Req# 28950 Aultman Health Foundation, CANTON, OH AULTMAN HOSPITAL Aultman Health Foundation Full Time, Day Shift, 3a-330p PURPOSE OF POSITION The purpose of this position is to approach all patients in a friendly, respectful manner and perform venipuncture to collect specimens for testing as ordered by the patient's physician according to established policies and procedures. The Weekender Program at Aultman Hospital is designed and implemented to increase staffing efficiency for weekend shifts and to minimize the turnover and absenteeism associated with weekend staffing. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS Approach patients in a positive, professional and respectful manner. Communicate clearly and professionally with all Aultman team members. Good attendance record and ready to start work at scheduled time. Verify correct patient identification and label specimens following established procedures. Perform phlebotomy on patients of all age groups according to established procedures. Maintain a stocked, clean work environment. Follow all departmental and organizational safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Complete and /or assist with tasks during downtime without being assigned. Assist coworkers as needed to maintain a pleasant, friendly work environment. Assist with training students and new personnel. Complete educational requirements and competency assessments as assigned. Job Requirements Prior phlebotomy experience preferred. High School diploma or equivalent Participants are expected to work two 12-hour scheduled shifts every weekend. The weekend days include both Saturday and Sunday. Colleagues are paid 4 additional hours at their base wage rate for each shift completed. The additional 4 hours are only eligible for colleagues who are approved to participate in the Weekender Program. Weekender Program colleagues are considered full-time status, 32 hours per week. However, the additional 4 hours per shift are not considered "working hours" and therefore, do not count towards Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) qualifying hours or hours toward overtime for the week. If a colleague does not complete a full 12-hour shift, the 4 additional hours will not be paid. The additional hours will not be pro-rated based on hours worked. The venipuncture tech may, however, use Paid Time Off (PTO) time to be paid for the hours not worked on a weekend. Unscheduled Absence - When a colleague calls off for their shift due to injury or illness, the colleague will use 16 hours of PTO time to make up for the missed shift: 12 hours regular shift + 4 additional hours. Holiday Scheduling - Weekender Program colleagues are expected to work ALL HOLIDAYS that fall on the scheduled weekend shift. If no holidays fall on the weekend in a given year, colleagues may be assigned to work 2 holidays in a particular calendar year. PTO- Weekender Program colleagues accrue PTO time based on their years of service, see PTO policy in the Colleague handbook. The following is the PTO time allotted to be requested off per year. Up to 6 years of service: 2 weekends requested off 7-13 years of service: 3 weekends requested off 14+ years of service: 4 weekends requested off Request for Time Off - When requesting time off, colleagues will use 16 hours of PTO, if adequate hours are available in the colleague's PTO bank. All colleagues who participate must sign an acknowledgement of the Weekender Program Policy prior to beginning the Weekender Program. Colleagues must provide a 4-week written notice when terminating employment while employed in the Weekender Program.
