Why SLP?

The Stanley Black & Decker Leadership Development Program (“SLP”) is a high-profile rotational program that is an integrated process for accelerating the development of our future leaders. It is geared toward recent graduates with Human Resources internship experience and a relevant business degree with a passion for a long-term career in Human Resources and People Operations.

Engineering SLPs work in 2 -12 months rotations over two years supporting different our central engineering functions and engineering design centers. Each rotation has project assignments that allow participants to become familiar with how we do business and contribute to the success of the Tools & Outdoor organization. Our program offers invaluable experiences for early-career associates seeking challenging developmental opportunities to jump-start their careers.

The Job:

As a part of the SLP program you’ll get to:

• Develop innovative designs and processes; many engineers on our teams hold multiple patents. You’ll dive deep and become a Subject Matter Expert in an innovative and fast-changing field.

• Design components for motors and power tools; plastic parts, stampings, machining, etc. working closely with component manufacturers along the way to understand their manufacturing processes, then make our designs better to improve cost, quality, robustness, or reduce complexity.

• Design and develop electronic firmware and specifications for power tools including Brushless DC motor controls, Li-Ion battery management systems and battery chargers.

• Effectively identify and communicate major technical and schedule issues to team leaders in a clear, concise, and timely manner while driving appropriate actions.

The Person:

You love to learn, grow, and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You’re not intimidated by innovation. You also have:

• Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

• Recent graduate or early career professionals with less than 2 years of professional experience (including internship/co-op experiences).

• Software and program experience preferred: SAP, 2D/3D CAD; CATIA Preferred, PLM Software Windchill preferred.

The Details:

• Must be willing to rotate work assignments, projects, and teams every 12 months throughout the program. Relocation for a minimum of one rotation may be required.

• This hybrid role will begin in Towson, MD.
