Title and Summary

Senior Analyst, Credit Risk

Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Analyst, Credit Risk based in Warsaw.

The role, in the second line of defense Risk function, will work in the global credit risk function for Mastercard focused on review of first line credit underwritings, performing portfolio reviews and monitoring of credit limits established under the policy. While Europe based, this role is global in nature.

Mastercard has approximately $60bn in credit exposure to financial institutions and other counterparties worldwide, making credit risk a key part of its business model.

Role

The primary responsibility is to ensure credit risk is managed within Mastercard’s risk appetite and the ongoing risk management practice is carried out in accordance with Mastercard’s policies & procedures. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Performing QA over selected customer underwritings approved under delegated authority provided to the 1LoD to ensure exposure are managed in line with established underwriting practices

  • Monitoring of metrics and limits established in the credit risk policy

  • Analysis and reporting on credit exposures, including preparing reports for risk governance forums

  • Supporting officers in the credit risk function in the performance of portfolio reviews related to market stress events or hot spots

  • Periodic review of credit risk models established by the first line of defense Risk function (1LoD - Customer Risk Management team), e.g. pipeline, PD, LGD

  • Supporting in-depth investigations on critical risk incident and produce detailed summaries identifying the causes of the incident, process failures, financial impact and proposed mitigation and following up actions

  • Partnering with technical teams to ensure enhancements to the Customer Risk Management System are appropriately implemented

All About You

  • Postgraduate degree in business or equivalent

  • Experience in credit risk assessment, financial statements analysis and management is a prerequisite

  • Strong experience in / knowledge of the banking sector and the payments regulation landscape

  • Knowledge of card scheme, settlement and Tech platforms preferred

  • Risk mindset: ability to think outside the box and identify potential sources of risk

  • Problem solving: ability to develop innovative solutions to manage/ address credit risk

  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills

  • Crisis management: ability to operate through a crisis, and make tough decisions with imperfect information
